Introduced for 1960, the Porsche 356 B brought numerous refinements to the Stuttgart marque’s celebrated sports car. At the head of its pushrod-engine range stood the Super 90, whose 1600 cc flat-four developed 90 hp through higher compression, revised cylinder heads, and twin-choke Solex carburetors. ‌ According to a copy of its Kardex, this Reutter-bodied coupe was completed in December 1962 and delivered through authorized dealer Max Moritz to its first owner in Dettenhausen, Germany. Its unusually extensive factory specification included an electric sunroof, horn ring, chrome wheels, luggage rack, fog lights, and Fiamm Roadmaster horns. Later brought to the US, the Porsche presents today in attractively restored condition, finished in period-correct Slate Gray with tan leather upholstery. Offered from an important private collection, it has been carefully maintained during the current ownership and benefits from recently completed service work. ‌ Retaining its matching-numbers engine, as documented by the Kardex, and factory-equipped electric sunroof, this Super 90 possesses a particularly appealing combination of desirable features. Its European specification, elegant colors, and handsome presentation further distinguish a well-equipped example of Porsche’s beloved 356, equally suited to casual display or enjoyment on the road.
