Originally introduced in 1948 when production began in Gmünd, Austria, the Porsche 356 was continually refined from the “Pre-A” era – through the 356 A, 356 B, and, finally, the 356 C. With each year, continual enhancements were introduced. For the 356 B, as presented here, upgrades ranged from the introduction of the type 741 gearbox in 1960 and the Karmann-built coupe in 1961, to the T-6 body style in 1962. Most notably, the ability to select the “Super” trim level offered 15 additional horsepower.

According to an accompanying copy of its Porsche Kardex, this 356 B Super Coupe was delivered new to Ellwood Motor Cars Inc. in Daytona Beach, Florida, through Brumos Porsche of Jacksonville in May 1963. The car was finished in a stunning shade of Signal Red over light brown leatherette, the combination which it is presented in today. Also specified in the Kardex is the significant detail that this Porsche retains its original 1,582 cc four-cylinder Super engine.

Having been a part of the collection of prolific Porsche racer and restorer Jim Watson for many years, this charming 356 B Super Coupe offers discerning collectors an ideal entry to many of the greatest vintage driving tours worldwide.
