The 308 GTB Vetroresina debuted in 1975 at the Paris Motor Show as the successor to the beloved Dino 246. Designed by Pininfarina and crafted by Scaglietti, it was the first production Ferrari built to feature a lightweight fiberglass body, a bold move that set it apart from its steel-bodied successors. This innovative construction enhanced performance and agility while maintaining the elegance expected of a Ferrari grand tourer. Just 712 of the 2,185 closed Berlinettas built would feature fiberglass construction, each of which was equipped with Ferrari’s new transverse-mounted 2.9-liter V-8 engine.

Completed in July 1976 and shipped to its first owner shortly thereafter, chassis 019735 is one of just 100 original Vetroresina-bodied cars delivered new to the US. Finished in the rare shade of Argento Auteuil (Light Silver) over Black leather, this car would spend time between the US and Canada before being sold to the consignor in 2015. Accompanying records show meticulous maintenance including multiple major services. Within the last 10 years alone, installation of a new master cylinder and spark plugs, along with a full belt servicing have been completed. Its wedge-shaped body and low-slung interior show beautifully, enhanced by optional air-conditioning and the installation of a period-correct Blaupunkt radio. This outstanding example of Ferrari’s lightweight 308 GTB offers a rare opportunity to add a desirable, low-production prancing horse to the stable.
