Unveiled in October 2015, the Ferrari F12tdf was the most focused expression of the F12berlinetta. Its name recalled the Tour de France automobile race, the demanding road competition in which Ferrari achieved a succession of victories during the 1950s and 1960s. Ferrari described the tdf as “the ultimate expression of the concept of an extreme road car,” a brief reflected in its engine, chassis, and purposeful bodywork. Designed by the Ferrari Styling Centre and limited to 799 examples, it brought renewed intensity to the marque’s traditional front-engine V-12 formula.\n\nFerrari developed the F12berlinetta’s naturally aspirated 6.3-litre V-12 to produce 780 PS at 8,500 rpm, an increase of 40 PS. Peak torque rose to 705 Nm, with 80% available from just 2,500 rpm. A revised seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox featured shorter gear ratios, while extensive use of lighter materials and a simplified cabin reduced weight by approximately 110 kg. With immediate throttle response and an 8,900 rpm redline, the engine remained central to the experience. Writing in CAR magazine’s November 2015 review, Chris Chilton observed, “It sounds outrageously good, simultaneously sweet but sharp edged.”\n\nThe chassis changes were equally significant. Wider front tyres increased grip and sharpened turn-in, while Ferrari’s new Virtual Short Wheelbase rear-wheel-steering system helped balance that heightened front-end response with greater stability. Above parking speeds, the rear wheels turned in the same direction as the fronts, helping keep the rear of the car composed under demanding cornering loads. Chilton found that exploiting this combination required some adjustment, with smaller, more measured steering inputs rewarding the driver as familiarity grew.\n\nIts muscular appearance also served a practical purpose. A deeper front splitter and revised Aerobridge worked with vents above the rear wheels, a larger rear spoiler, and a redesigned diffuser to generate considerably more downforce than the F12berlinetta. A smaller rear-quarter window and altered rear-screen angle gave the tdf a distinctive profile, while the trio of louvres behind the side windows evoked earlier Ferrari competition berlinettas. These details connected the car’s historic namesake with the aerodynamic demands of a modern supercar.\n\nFerrari quoted 0–100 km/h in 2.9 seconds, 0–200 km/h in 7.9 seconds, and a top speed exceeding 340 km/h. Those figures conveyed its extraordinary pace, but the F12tdf’s appeal extended beyond acceleration alone. Its combination of a naturally aspirated V-12, advanced chassis technology, and dramatic coachwork gave this limited-production berlinetta a character as memorable as its performance.\n\nAccording to its accompanying Ferrari Classiche Yellow Book, this F12tdf was delivered in March 2016 through Garage Zenith SA in Sion, Switzerland. Specified through Ferrari’s Atelier program, it was finished in Blu Tour de France (Tour de France Blue) with Bianco Fuji (Fuji White) accent lines along the bonnet and body sides. Its personalization plaque recorded a carefully considered specification, extending to the finishes of individual trim pieces and emblems.\n\nThe exterior carbon fibre components were specified in Blu Opaco (Matte Blue), complemented by Grigio Corsa Opaco (Matte Corsa Grey) wheels, aluminum-colored brake calipers, and brushed-aluminum Cavallino emblems front and rear. A slender metal Italian flag motif above the rear Ferrari script provided a discreet finishing touch. Carbon fibre engine-compartment components retained a contrasting gloss finish, while titanium exhaust outlets completed the exterior.\n\nInside, Blu Scuro Alcantara was paired with Grigio Tessuto 3D (Grey 3D Fabric) on the large carbon fibre racing seats, with Grigio Scuro (Dark Grey) stitching and embroidered Cavallino emblems. Blue Alcantara extended to the steering wheel, center console, headliner, rear wall, and luggage compartment. Matte carbon fibre cabin trim and Blu Opaco carbon fibre sill plates continued the coordinated theme. Black four-point harnesses and a white tachometer reinforced the sporting character, while a front-axle lift, adaptive headlights, front and rear parking cameras, passenger display, and navigation with Bluetooth added practical conveniences.\n\nAt the time of cataloguing, the odometer displayed 9,407 km. Its accompanying Ferrari Classiche Yellow Book recorded the original Blu Tour de France and Blu Scuro Alcantara color scheme.\n\nCombining low mileage with an extensive and thoughtfully coordinated Atelier specification, this example offers a particularly appealing expression of the F12tdf. One of just 799 built, it embodies Ferrari’s front-engine V-12 tradition at its most intense, pairing the sound and response of a naturally aspirated 12-cylinder engine with the agility and performance of a thoroughly modern berlinetta.
